About

Namaste !

BASIC EDUCATION: I was born and brought up in Dibrugarh town of eastern Assam, India. My basic education was in Don Bosco School and Salt Brook Academy (Science stream) with graduation from D.H,S.K College, Dibrugarh University. While I moved from away Dibrugarh town for higher education, I managed to grab a seat out of five (5) in the entrance examination for postgraduate under Gauhati University. During my post-graduation course, I qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship (2007).

WORK EXPERIENCE: Upon completion of post-graduation (2008), I was absorbed in government service and worked for the organisation for two years. During my tenure in government service, I was appointed as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Geography Department, Gauhati University in 2010. Thereafter, I went through self-taught courses in online and offline mode in various aspects of Geography. I was enrolled in the PhD program under the supervision of Prof. Anup Saikia (Fulbright Fellow).

TRAINING: During my lectureship at Gauhati University, I underwent both national and international training to streamline my specialisation in the research domain. I started off my career development skills through courses from Oxford Univerity and World Bank Institute (online mode).

Thereafter, I underwent various national/international training on:

  1. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Remote Sensing training at North East Space Application Centre (NESAC), Meghalaya, under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, India in 2018.
  2. Evaluation, prediction and early warning for earthquake-induced mountainous hazards, 2016, Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, China Academy of Sciences, Chengdu, China
  3. Field Techniques in Glaciology training in Hamtah Glacier conducted by Geological Survey of India, 2014.
  4. Remote Sensing under Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) of Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) at Kasetsart University, Thailand in 2012.
  5. Glaciology training in Chhota Shigri Glacier under the Indo-Himalayan Capacity Building Program conducted by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Switzerland & DST (India).
  6. Microwave Remote sensing Training Programme “RISAT-1 data utilization with special emphasis on North East Region” held at North East Space Application Centre (NESAC), Meghalaya, India under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, India in 2013.

RESEARCH SKILLS:

  1. Glaciology field and geodetic techniques
  2. Softwares includes ArcGIS, ERDAS IMAGINE, Ecognition, R, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Endnote
  3. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
